HeMateMe: Is Tradewise a multinational of some sort? Do they sponsor a big Open here each year?

Shams: So, Ivanchuk got 17.5k euros for winning Gibraltar compared to only 10k euros to Nakamura for winning Tata. Interesting. I wonder what Nakamura's appearance fee was, and if Chucky got one for Gibraltar?
Feb-03-11  apollokonrad: I am always happy everytime Ivanchuk wins.

Domdaniel: *Beautiful* *Island* of Gibraltar? I suppose it sounds better than "Heavily armed peninsula, with a rock and some apes".

It even has its own colonial Governor.

technical draw: Gibraltar is smaller than what I thought. It's so small that on a map they show a swimming pool.
Feb-04-11  14DogKnight: I saw that map tool. Gibralter is only about 1/32ndth of an inch wide

technical draw: <14DogKnight> lol, I see you're starting early for funniest kibitzer!
Feb-04-11  Roger Krueger: Tradewise is new as name sponsor, 2008, 2009 and 2010 were Gibtelecom, not sure who it was before then. 2011 was billed as the 9th.
Feb-04-11  zoren: Adams appears to have played too solidly...

HeMateMe: Wesley Snipes said "Always bet on black" in "Passenger 57". You might want to factor that in?

technical draw: Wesley Snipes is going to jail for income tax evasion. I'm not taking any advice from him.
Feb-05-11  kurtrichards: Snipes thought all along that it was tax avoidance but he was wrong. It was tax evasion according to the Court and he will end up in jail. :)

technical draw: <On December 9, 2010, Snipes reported to the Federal Correctional Institution McKean near Lewis Run, Pennsylvania. Snipes was nervous about going to prison and admitted his trepidation about doing time. "I think any man would be nervous," Snipes' projected date of release is on July 19, 2013.>

I heard he is BFF with Bubba....

Domdaniel: <HeMateMe> There are casinos in every half-ass resort along those coasts. My favourites are further north, in Deauville and Ostend.

kingfu: We here at Chessgames from time to time complain and complain and complain about all these Grandmaster draws. Sometimes I get irked as well.

I just noticed that Ivanchuk played NO (ZERO) draws in this tournament!

Nine wins and one loss!!

Spaseba , Vassily.

Let's play Chess.

perfidious: <kingfu> How do you figure that? He drew with Mikhalevski and Felgaer.
Feb-05-11  niemzo: He drew two games and won eight. More impressive, if you ask me.

kingfu: My bad. perfidious and niemzo are correct and I am wrong. Is it not good when one admits defeat / wrongness? Is that not how we learn?

The tournament games made it look like there were no draws. Perception can be a fleeting thing.

Of course, there could JUST be a possible link between my being 60+ years old, working 50 hours this week and feeling like yesterday's left over, warmed up , hammered s&&t.

A possible accurate reflection: Ivanchuk just goes for it! Sometimes, he plays badly. However, in Gibraltar, he won. He played great Chess.

Spaseba, Vassily.

And thanks to perfidious and niemzo for pointing out my obvious flaws.

Even in old age one must adapt , one must improvise , one must overcome.
