kellmano: <crazybird> Strange use of the word catharsis.

Cn't wait for the games tomorrow. Anything but a defeat will leave Moro sitting pretty for the superfinal.

kellmano: <Shams> Games just started. French for Moro again.
Jun-25-11  plimko: Comfortable opening for Moroz:

Jun-25-11  Layson: I'd be slightly uncomfortable as black here... White has the bishop pair and absolutely no weaknesses. Rublevsky can try and squeeze this slowly and Morozevich will have to be very accurate not to give anything more tangible.

If he's impatient, as he can sometimes be in these kinds of positions, it could cost him.

kellmano: Once agin I agree with <layson>.

I suppose black has the extra central pawn, but surely white has all the play.

crazybird: Moro draws and remains in the lead. One more round to go.
Jun-25-11  Layson: Does anyone know what the tie-break method is?

Second tie-break is cumulative score and the third tie-break is the number of wins. Morozevich is doing okay with those numbers.

However, his first tie-break score is way behind. The only way I got to his score is by summing the score of his opponents minus the lowest score. So it seems like a modified buchholz is used.

If this is the case, the fact that Khalifman dropped out of the tournament is an unjust penalty to Morozevich and anyone else who played him, especially with so much on the line.

Jun-25-11  polarmis: Morozevich annotates his win against Sjugirov, and Inarkiev has an impressive female fan club (though it didn't really help!):

Jun-25-11  bronkenstein: Polarmis , appreciated (I`ve read it in Russian already, but anyway ). Just keep on keeping contributors/trolls ratio above 0.05 =).

BTW do you know what time normally they are putting next round report on Russian Chess? I am impatiently curious about Moro`s opinion on that French Tarrasch line he played against Rublevsky, since I have it on repertoire as well.

Jun-25-11  polarmis: brokenstein, I'd guess it'll appear tomorrow at some point before the games start, though I haven't been following that closely.

kingfu: We were wrong. Moro took time off to prepare for this event. It worked!

DomDaniel,

Moro plays c5 with the Tarrasch French as well. He has scored a win in this tourney. I stand corrected. His Qxd5 is exactly what you play. It does prevent the isolated pawn for Black.

Botvinnik and Korchnoi also played c5 against the Tarrasch.

Jun-25-11  bronkenstein: <...tomorrow...>

TY . My fears came true -.-

kellmano: Last round just finished for Moro.
Jun-26-11  vlado23: so Moro qualifies for the superfinal - Timofeev could still win the tournament if he wins today.

crazybird: Moro must be the winner with 8/11 (+5-0=6). Timofeev drew, as did Galkin..so both would end at 7.5.

Shams: Mention must be made of Fedoseev and his (+6 -3 =2) score.
Jun-26-11  siamesedream: Final standings:

http://chess-results.com/tnr51012.a...

Jun-29-11  queener: So the 8-player Superfinal in August will most likely consist of Nepo, Karjakin, Grischuk, Kramnik (confirmed by Levitov), Svidler, Morozevich, Timofeev & Galkin.

The dates are 7 - 14 of August.

Jun-29-11  Bdellovibrio: <Nepo, Karjakin, Grischuk, Kramnik (confirmed by Levitov), Svidler, Morozevich, Timofeev & Galkin.>

Now <that> is what I call a championship!
