<iking> You could be a Visayan, probably an Ilonggo, but I am not sure..

<ken> Susmariosep, I nearly fell out of my seat laughing at your name!(",)

<alexmagnus> Nice too see you again, and your magnanimous greeting too. Why in the world are you implicitly portraying me as anti-European? I suggest you go back talking to yourself in Hanna-Marie Klek page instead of following me around. Thanks in advance.

visayanbraindoctor: <Ladolcevita> My ancestors mostly come from a place in the Philippines called Iloilo. I believe it used to be a Chinese trading colony for centuries before the Spanish arrived. Many 'native' foods, which you could look up in the internet- such as batchoy or pancit molo- are actually inventions of generations of Fukienese immigrants. Many of the natives there look Chinese. The language of Iloilo natives have the sing-song Chinese intonation, IMO exactly how a Chinese would sound like if he or she were to speak a Visayan language with a Chinese accent.

It seems that the content of a particular page changes all the time as the whole page flows,so I'm not sure whether I'm watching exactly what you had suggested...as a result,I watched more than one page at last.

I think you really dont have to discuss such issues as whether So is overrated or underrated or rated fair and square or whether he could enter 2700 club, and become a super GM,among the elite,or whether he has been provided with adequate opportunities compared with his European or American counterparts,etc... To be frank, these issues are really the most boring of all,if not exclusively unsurpassed, they're both inconclusive and pointless, and I believe So wouldnt like these discussion either.Just like what So has said,we get there when we get there.

And the real thing here,in my view,is that you shouldnt"admire" So only for his ELO or his prospects and demand him so much on a fan's part, and couldn't graciously,or even willingly accept some loss or upset or fall-back from him, that is regretable, for he is merely playing his games and then a bunch of people cry out and demands him hired a coach or went abroad or whatever...Under such cirmstances,do you think So would really make steady progress without being diverted or annoyed in the least degree?Sometimes such kind of love is what we could not afford to take, though it seems so passionate and genuine indeed... Sugardom seems a much better version of fans I depicted above, and he said

<It's because sometimes we are too impatient. Always looking to blame something or somebody.

What if Wesley is like an oak tree? Strongest of trees but takes time to mature.

We might give him all the advices on which opening to use, we can give him all the best coaches, but will it work?

Let's just enjoy his games against some of the best in the world. He gets there when he gets there..>

It reminds me of two Chinese idioms,or set-phrases(It is reported here that Wesley is a Chinese descendant,so I naturally would stand by his side too,but perhaps in a simpler and more moderate way)"Best talent is usually completed in a late age"which perhaps means that being a youth doesnt really provide enough time if you are to be very good at some subject.I tend to interpret this as whether you are genius or not when you are young, you're technically not the best, for there are simply many aged people who could be as good as you at youth, whilst ages of experience perhaps become their advantage, and also it means that some people might be mediocre before they become very great in some respect. And another one is simply"young and well-established",which just describes some young people who are really great, and should not be merely regarded as unexperienced, though they are indeed so at that age. Well,I mean So is young, and indeed a prodigy just like some others, and he certainly has his own approach to chess, and also needs time to learn or to improve his play like other young players.

Anyway,I think So would lend an ear to reasonable suggestions from fans, but not those from perhaps make-believers who dont know that calm sometimes could be another kind of support(for instance after a loss) and not holding that tight could be a better proof of your affection. Simply,I mean you cant call yourself being nice to someone when you dont even think about his feelings at least, right?(For instance annoying Wesley and still mumbles that it is he didnt appreciate your support etc...)

Sep-22-11  Ladolcevita: <visayanbraindoctor> I slightly modified my post,so I deleted that one. Yes...I guess there are many Chinese immigrants or ealier natives there, but anyway, this is not really important,So is certainly the pride of Philippines after all...

Eggman: So, according to wikipedia, the next candidates tournament (to be held late next year) will shape up like this:

1. Loser of 2012 World Championship Match (probably Gelfand, but possibly Anand)

2. Top 3 qualifiers from 2011 World Cup (Svidler, Grischuk, Ivanchuk)

3. Next three highest rated players in the world, taken as an average of the July 2011 and January 2012 rating lists

4. A player selected by the organizing committee, who must be rated at least 2700 on the January 2012 list

The next three highest rated players on the July 2011 rating list are Carlsen, Aronian, and Karjakin. If this doesn't change, the participants in the 2012 candidates double round robin would be

1. Anand / Gelfand loser
2. Svidler
3. Grischuk
4. Ivanchuk
5. Carlsen
6. Aronian
7. Karjakin
8. Selection of organizing committee

In other words, we could have a candidates tournament with no Kramnik and no Topalov!

Sep-22-11  SugarDom: It's OK. Carlsen will probably not play... ;]

Eggman: <<Carlsen will probably not play>>

Is there any reason to believe that Carlsen would boycott a double round robin format? I know you were posting in jest but I ask this question in all seriousness because I don't know the answer.

alexmagnus: <vsb> I don't follow you, I answer to everybody... Look, I posted more than 2000 posts since our last talk :D. And I' not portarying you as anti-European, I just don't get where you see the discrimination of non-.Europeans in chess. There is no more discrimination than anywhere else. Even less, as the statistics show. And one more thing: just because you don't have reasonable counter-arguments to my arguments it doesn't give you right to ban me from countering your arguments, which are just plain wrong in all dimensions. And leave HMK alone.

alexmagnus: Is there discrimination against non-Brits in snooker? Non-Africans in marathon running? What about non-European non-South-American teams in soccer?

It's not about discrimination or money. It's all about popularity of the respective sport in the region.
