Beholder: Gunina is becoming a force to be reckoned with. The next Kosteniuk, perhaps? Or more than that.

*The* Kosteniuk meanwhile is in a serious slump. But then, why shouldn't she enjoy life outside of chess after winning the women's World Title.

I agree, Gunina has really impressed me.
Hope to see some great things from her in years to come.

Maybe they were worn out after this event: FIDE Women's Grand Prix (2011).

Natalia Pogonina: Yes, the sisters were too busy to participate this time. Tough schedule.

Sneaky: whiteshark, I think if Gunina loses round 9 and Pogonina wins, they would both be tied for 1st with 6/9. But more realistically it looks like Gunina will clinch first and Natalia will have to settle for 2nd place.
Aug-28-11  stanleys: Gunina wins!Congratulations,Valya!

Congratulations also to the lowest-rated Daria Charochkina who takes the 3rd place!

Aug-29-11  checkmateyourmove: <Pogonina> is the nakamura of woman....haha Always first to criticize play but never can see her ignorance. Long live chess to give these guys a reality check.
