| Jan-29-12 | | kia0708: I was never much interested in Anand-Gelfand match until I started reading posts on kibitz. The comments can be more entertaining than the matcxh itself. (I hope I am wrong here !) |
| Jan-29-12 | | hellopolgar: Loek Van Wely did better than Gelfand/Topalov/Gashimov/Navara/Giri. What a surprise! |
Jan-29-12
 | | parmetd: I will say that the only disappointing thing about this tournament was the lack of the player's post mortems that they used to do regularly in past editions. Otherwise, they did a great job. But, I will tell you that the one prediction I made was Giri would finish last.... so after all those insults people dished out for Navara.... no one dishes that kind of crap on Giri. |
Jan-29-12
 | | Marmot PFL: Many players can go away with some satisfaction. Fine win for Aronian, the 2nd place finishers also played well (Carlsen and his legion of disappointed fans will recover), both US players had plus scores, and Gelfand and Topalov got some badly needed practice. |
| Jan-29-12 | | anandrulez: Carlsen Radjabov Nakamura Karjakin
Caruana are in the live top 10 now . I think its a clear indication that the next generation has arrived .Anand Kram Ivanchuk are the old names in that list and to some extent Moro and Aronian . |

 | | Marmot PFL: << benjinathan: <BUNA:> I agree this is all about the money. Radjabov wanted the second place cash- I get that. But that is the difference between a true competitor and a loser.> LOL.
Made my day.
Radjabov is a quitter for taking the quick draw with black, that left him the sole player that went undefeated through one of the strongest tournaments in the world, and secured his second place.> It's easy to tell which kibitzers have or haven't played in competition themselves. Going all out with black vs a top player is very risky, and foolish in the last round when you don't have another game to recover in case you lose. |
| Jan-29-12 | | timhortons: <Anand Kram Ivanchuk are the old names in that list and to some extent Moro and Aronian > well said anand.
but dont forget gelfland!
they are nothing but history now.
they are once blah blah blah that won the great tournament of beh! lets move forward, the future is magnus and the rest of young boys! |
| Jan-29-12 | | jussu: Ahem, the 29-year-old old man Aronian just won a strong tournament, and the 37-year-old old man Kramnik won three in the last half a year. I agree that the new gereration has arrived, but at least Kramnik is far from being just history (and of course I put Aronian into the young generation). |

| Jan-29-12 | | timhortons: < no one dishes that kind of crap on Giri.> because giri is the future,it doesnt matter if he placed last now.do you still expect navarra to be back next year at tata? not anymore but for giri?this one will be among the many to come! |
Jan-29-12
 | | HeMateMe: Congrats to Aronian! He won seven of 13 games here, massive for this level of competiton. |
| Jan-29-12 | | montree: What the hell is wrong with all these people. If two player are satisfied and agrees to a draw on the last round of a hard fought tournament, what the hell are you bitching about! Get on with your life. Seriously! |

You guys are "the future".
You have no respect for the game itself, for the moves, the logic.
You only care about people, your people.
Fu***ng "popularisation of chess". |
| Jan-29-12 | | timhortons: lol buna,relax!
whos your guy?
my man in the tournament is naka, he placed third but i dont mind it, levon play good, he deserve my gratz. |
| Jan-29-12 | | AlphaMale: In one of the tournament vids on YT, Carlsen jokes about Navara's fortunes changing (his 11th round win over Aronian) because of his change of name. What's the deal? |
Jan-29-12
 | | virginmind: congratulations, levon aronian! |
Jan-29-12
 | | parmetd: Tim everyone knows Giri will be back to Tata every year because he is Dutch (and for no other reason than that). Will Navara be back? who knows! As a non-dutch participant, his participant depends on MANY things including, cost, his rating and other players schedules. My point was not that Giri deserves any kind of insults but that Navara certainly DOES NOT deserve the kind of insults he has received. He is a nice person and stronger than any kibitzer here that insults him. Someone always has to finish last. I just find it strange that in the scenario where two finished last (one whom I easily predicted would do so) that only one of the two participants is lambasted while the other is the "future." |
| Jan-29-12 | | jussu: Also Giri was invited into Reggio because he was Dutch, and actually he even won the championships of the Netherlands and is at 2700+ merely because he is Dutch. Of course neither Navara nor Giri have deserved any insult; this was a tremendously strong tournament and they simply ended in the last places. But why is Giri "the future" and Navara just some strong grandmaster... well, when you see two cars at the same point, one of them standing and the other pacing forward, you probably assume that the latter will be ahead in the nearest future, don't you? |
| Jan-29-12 | | Jim Bartle: Navara qualified according to the rules, played his best, defeated the tournament winner, and came in tied for last. What's wrong with that? |
| Jan-29-12 | | capanegra: <<Refused>Made my day.
Radjabov is a quitter for taking the quick draw with black, that left him the sole player that went undefeated through one of the strongest tournaments in the world, and secured his second place.> Actually, Radjabov's second place was not secured for having drawn so early, he could have finished third (and tied with Caruana) had Carlsen won against Van Wely. I'm very far from being a Radjabov basher, but also have to admit that I felt disappointed today. I kibitzed yesterday that playing Black against Aronian who also needed a draw was surely going to be too much to break, but at least he could have waited until the middle game to evaluate if some strategic or tactical possibilities might arise (that's what Carlsen tried, for instance). Likewise, Aronian would have been more than happy to shake hands for a draw even with an edge on White's favour. So, I believe the risk of keep on playing a little more was very small compared with the potential output. |
| Jan-29-12 | | timhortons: < Tim everyone knows Giri will be back to Tata every year because he is Dutch > i dont mean to disrespect you nor just want to engaged you in a useless way, but giri got talent more than the kind of van wely, if ever he will be back at group a , it is because he is a supertalented kid and a threat to magnus carlsen supremacy in chess.. |
Jan-29-12
 | | Strongest Force: Here's a shout-out to former homeboy Caruana who's feet would'nt touch the floor when I saw him at the Marshall. Now, he can touch-down anywhere he wants. |
Jan-29-12
 | | Bobwhoosta: <timhortons>
+1 |
Jan-29-12
 | | Bobwhoosta: Congratulations to Aronian on a well played tournament!! On a side note, and not just because of his last game, the moniker "Drawjabov" explains why I am currently NOT a fan. |
