Jan-17-12  Penguincw: Turov 4/4! Looks like he's going to be in Group B next year. Last year, I believe Vocaturo was "only" 3.5/4. Same for Chao in 2010.

2009 Winner: So
Score after Round 4: 2.5/4

2008 Winner: Caruana
Score after Round 4: 3.5/4

2007 Winner: Krasenkow
Score after Round 4: 2.5/4

2006 Winner: Atalik
Score after Round 4: 3.5/4

2005 Winner: Georgiev
Score after Round 4: 3/4

2004 Winner: Carlsen
Score after Round 4: 3.5/4

He has white against Lars Ootes on Thursday.

Shams: <Penguin> Nine rounds to go, Sadler could still get the coach moving.

I know. Turov still has to face Tikkanen, Adhiban, Sadler and Goudriaan, all with plus scores currently. :)

HeMateMe: Turov is playing like a computer, here.
Jan-18-12  Penguincw: I have a feeling Turov is confident with his opponent, while Ootes is preparing hard all day.

PhilFeeley: <Xeroxx> Haven't been around here much have you?
Jan-18-12  Penguincw: < Xeroxx: Why is there no group D? >

Maybe they can't afford it. There are 14 players in each group (and the amateurs) so if there were 52 players and 364 games, I think the organizers might get a little crazy.

Jan-19-12  LDJ: <CG> Hopman-Schut (0-1), played last tuesday, is missing.

Might be prudent to draw a game or two.

Why?

Jan-19-12  Penguincw: Sadler is a beast. 5/5. Tomorrow, Turov faces Hans Tikkanen in a very exciting and important game as if Tikkanen wins, he will tie with Turov and if Turov wins, he's going to put the tournament away very quickly. Meanwhile Sadler has white against the lowest rated opponent in the group, Etienne Goudriaan and can try to sneak his way up.

Marmot PFL: <Robed.Bishop> Winning them all might be suspicious, unless your name is Fischer. Seems he took my advice.
Jan-20-12  nummerzwei: Ootes vs Schut is a case in point of how resilience can pay off even against master opponents.
Jan-20-12  Penguincw: Turov draws the game against the co-leader, so Turov is still a full point ahead.

Tomorrow's pairings:

Brandenburg vs. Hopman
Adhiban vs. Paehtz
Goudriaan vs. Tania
Danielian vs. Sadler
Turov vs. Grover
Schut vs. Tikkanen
Haast vs. Ootes

Jan-21-12  Penguincw: Turov remains half a point ahead of the field. Tomorrow, all eyes in Group C will be on the Sadler-Turov game. The two titans clash.
