|Apr-11-12|| ||Ladolcevita: <HeMateMe>
My emphasis is upon those posts about democracy,not you.You dont have to direct people's attention in haste to some question of wording...
Clearly one has a divided view upon Chairman Mao,and I called them great figures,well,it might be all about wording,because in Chinese,we call all the names in history book great figures..."great"could be in a negative way or positive way,maybe it's not the correct usage of "great"...you see I'm not English speaker,how many times should I remind you?One shall read between lines,and then one knows exactly what another means!
Well,I shall defintely end all these posts here in any event.

|Apr-11-12|| ||MORPHYEUS: Democracy sucks...|
|Apr-11-12|| ||King Death: I agree with <twinlark> this has gotten way out of hand and I've tried to move it to the Rogoff page. Anybody care to join me?|
|Apr-11-12|| ||HeMateMe: wannabe--someone above was saying that "all the past leaders of China were great men." I though a little perspective was needed.|
Unless of course, you personally don't believe that Mao and Stalin murdered millions, and that it is all some sort of rumour gone viral...
|Apr-11-12|| ||WannaBe: Of course they didn't, they just gave out the orders... Sheeesh! =)|
My previous post was also tongue-in-cheek.
|Apr-11-12|| ||Thanh Phan: Wonder how many of these games will become future "Game of the day" or future "Today's puzzle" games|
|Apr-11-12|| ||kardopov: <Democracy sucks...> I believe it's the other way around. Abuses by the people is it. In any form, abuse and greed are the things that make a government worse.|

|Apr-12-12|| ||drik: <twinlark: <IF information was what you really wanted.>
drik: <Or one can simply ask.>
<twinlark: One might already know.>
Then one wasn't wondering - was one?
|Apr-12-12|| ||drik: <Appaz: I was talking about your <style>, not your ethnicity. Your profile says you are a "UK player".>
My style? Don't peg me as 'Western', just because my English is fluent. London is famously cosmopolitan - don't confuse my location, with my identity.|
<Could you please supply a link to where he says so?>
Look on page 6 -
<Apr-09-12 Ladolcevita: <twinlark> Thank you for your very kind support:)
<vsaluki><drik> It's late night here,so I have to sign off.But I will make a list for you two:
4.Please do not always quote the dark things about China,when you are <merely a westerner>,who should really take care of western world in the first place.>
Even though I do not consider myself 'Western' - I take exception to being talked down to, by those who choose evasion over debate.
|Apr-12-12|| ||twinlark: <Then one wasn't wondering - was one?>|
Not really, it was just a rhetorical device. It's obvious what you're about.
|Apr-12-12|| ||Ladolcevita: Ok,this would really be my last post about these issues here...
I said<merely a westerner>WHEN a westerner is talking about China in an assertive fashion,is this offensive?I'm also<merely a Chinese>when talking about western world.So that's why I put forward my view about the western world in a moderate fashion for I'm<merely a Chinese>,an outsider.Anyway I speak English and you dont speak Chinese,so maybe I should have a little better understanding upon the topics we are talking about.
Last but not least is my sincere apology to those who might have been offended in some measure by my posts,and I would not comment here furthermore.
|Apr-12-12|| ||twinlark: <Ladolcevita>
Well, you didn't offend most of us, and I can't see why anyone would be.
But I'd like to make a suggestion in case of any further responses to your comments. If you want to write further responses, there is a lively site for all manner of non-chess discussion, mainly political, at the Kenneth Rogoff page.
This page should be left to discuss chess and it would be better not to strain the exemplary forbearance of chessgames.com administrators.
|Apr-12-12|| ||kardopov: <says <who>? ...> says me :-)|
|Apr-12-12|| ||Kanatahodets: The tales about democracy in the West are similar to tales about communism in Russia. I don't believe that there are still someone who believes in such tales. I lived in autocratic regimes of Soviet era and in the puppet democracy regimes of North America. One still can believe in merits of capitalism, but it is the same braiwashing machine as during the Brezhnev's era. Fairy tales about new parties and right to choose between two evils. And I don't think that Brezhnev would tolerate genocide in Rwanda as Clinton did. This is to add to human face of capitalism. There are no values whatsoever and no-one of politicans cares about you citizens.|
|Apr-12-12|| ||twinlark: <Kanatahodets>
You make some strong points but they'd be best made on the political chat page at Kenneth Rogoff, as the site's admin could well scrub this entire discussion if it stays off topic any longer.
|Apr-12-12|| ||Kanatahodets: China, despite of whining of democracy lovers, is a success story in developing world - 400 miliions people are out of povetry and I expect more to come. What the West has now? Sustaining crisis, rising inequality. This is the opposite to Chinese achivements. However, fairy tales machine is still there and brainwashed individuals are still trying to persuade themselves that everything is quiet in the western front. But I don`t believe that!|
|Apr-12-12|| ||Kanatahodets: "twinlark: <Kanatahodets> |
You make some strong points..."
Sorry, you`re right. Thank you for the Rogoff`s reference, I will go there.
|Apr-12-12|| ||Ladolcevita: Thanks <twinlark>,you are right.|
|Apr-12-12|| ||KKDEREK: <kardopov: <says <who>? ...> says me :-)>
I do agree with you, I was thinking the other way around.. ;o)|
|Apr-13-12|| ||drik: <twinlark: <Then one wasn't wondering - was one?>
Not really, it was just a rhetorical device. It's obvious what you're about.>|
Perhaps if it is so obvious, you would be willing to spell it out? Whilst you are about it, you might spell out what you are about - for the benefit of the less omniscient of us.
|Apr-13-12|| ||drik: <twinlark: <Ladolcevita>
Well, you didn't offend most of us, and I can't see why anyone would be.>|
So you can read my mind ... but can't see why anyone would find being called 'merely a Westerner' offensive? Pretty selective when it comes to insight, eh?
|Apr-13-12|| ||drik: <I said<merely a westerner>WHEN a westerner is talking about China in an assertive fashion>|
I simply asked you - "Would you care to explain why you think 'the normal people should not be so obssesional about political issues'?" I think the response was more assertive than the question.
|Apr-14-12|| ||balzarius: Congratulations to the victor,young Chinese GM Ding Liren!|
