| Aug-07-12 | | Barok Espinosa: What if they were paired in the last round and one of them needed a win to clinch the title? |
 |
Aug-09-12
 | | HeMateMe: They would have a duel--Putin pez dispensers, at ten meters. Last man standing. |
 |
Aug-09-12
 | | perfidious: <HMM> Ah, to have some Pez-wonderful candy from my youth! |
 |
Aug-09-12
 | | HeMateMe: Hey, Natalie P is in first place--hopefully she can Keep it going. Nice story about the mens and womens sides on Chessbase. 16 year old Dubov will steal the show. |
 |
Aug-09-12
 | | waustad: I've never understood shopping as a sport, but good luck for the rest of the tournament. |
 |
Aug-09-12
 | | waustad: A real market like the Wienernaschmarkt or a good farmers market is different, but I get clothes because everything is falling apart. It is fun going to all of the places selling exotic food. |
 |
Aug-10-12
 | | parmetd: Natalia takes over the lead by defeating her coleader with black! |
 |
| Aug-10-12 | | random1: Where's Tatiana's sixth game? |
 |
Aug-11-12
 | | parmetd: 1 more round to go Natalia! |
 |
Aug-12-12
 | | waustad: Congratulations Natalia. She already took a quick draw to clinch the title. Can a national championship serve as an IM or GM norm or does one need to have foreign players involved? |
 |
Aug-12-12
 | | chessgames.com: Congratulations Natalia! |
 |
Aug-12-12
 | | HeMateMe: Natalie is Golden, on the final day of the Olympics. |
 |
Aug-12-12
 | | Natalia Pogonina: Thanks! Your support is very important for me. I will follow up on this a bit later, after the closing ceremony (in case you have any questions/comments) :) |

What was your favorite game? *Maybe annotate it for your website?!*
At what point did you feel you were winning in this game N Pogonina vs V Gunina, 2012? Well done.
@waustad. National Championships are the only places where foreign federations are not required for an IM/GM norm. |

Aug-12-12
 | | Natalia Pogonina: @waustad Technically speaking, national championships, Olympiads, etc. don't have the requirement. However, there were only two GMs in this tournament.
@Barok Espinosa Grats! :) I didn't bet on anyone in this event.
@parmetd Thanks. I will annotate some games later on. In the game vs. Gunina I had like a minute on my clock on move 39, so I had to find the winning continuation very quickly. After move 40 I paused and re-checked it. |
