There's a women's section as well, we'll be getting those games shortly.

waustad: Thanks CG. If the rules are the same as in the senior WC, it is 60 for men and 50 for women.

Strongest Force: Whatever happened to that German GM named Huebner (I think)? He was elite back in the day. He was a candidate but became an egg-headed PHD.
Aug-22-12  uscfratingmybyear: No Korchnoi?

waustad: Huebner has played in the Snowdrops and Old-hands (2011) tournament recently.

Also, since Tatyana Fomina is playing in the women's section, women in their 50s are eligible.

waustad: Since Korchnoi is in a wheel chair now, he may not be travelling as much.
Aug-23-12  Troller: Hübner is a character all right, but I don't think he's ever played these senior championships. Karpov could also play now, I guess.

But I seem to recall that new distinctions are going to be made, so there will be 2 different senior age groups in the future?

Octavia: Why are only 3 rds shown when they're playing rd7 today?

Also, unfortunately Murey is not playing.

chessgames.com: We've learned that Pushkov, Kupreichik, and Mochalov all finished on 7/9. It's unclear if they employ a tiebreak system. The official site still hasn't made the round 9 games available, sorry.

cro777: Nikolai Pushkov won the European Senior Chess Champion title in the last round.

Valentin Bogdanov was a leader before the last round. Half a point behind were eight other players, including Pushkov. Bogdanov lost to Mochalov and Pushkov has defeated Mishuchkov, thus winning the tournament.

Notice Black's move 30 simply "--"? We have to delete the game from our database as we cannot abide illegal chess moves. Perhaps a move would make sense there and the scoresheet was illegible.

Shams: <cg.com> Black's 30th must be either ...Qd7 or ...Qe6, with the former making more sense.
