Dec-07-12  waustad: The is is a very good start for the Ginger GM (Simon Williams). He's 7th highest rated but tied for the lead. I was a bit surprised by his quick draw in round 6 though. From what I recall they blitzed out most of the moves and were the first game done that I looked at.
Dec-07-12  notyetagm: They should allow the winner of the Open play with the big boys the next year. Then the Open would get some real upcoming players.

Melkumyan, for example, a student of Aronian, could not be doing much worse than Polgar is right now.

I think user <open defence> is Hosea.

Dec-08-12  joachimvhw: is kingscrusher playing?
Dec-08-12  waustad: I saw him commenting both here and on chessbomb during the Classic games, so I doubt it. Look for Tryfon Costas Gavriel in a crosstable. Only the top boards will be playing on electronic boards so we wouldn't see his games unless he's doing well.
Dec-08-12  waustad: Actually we are seeing a lot more games here than they broadcast live.
Dec-09-12  waustad: I just asked Kingscrusher on chessbomb and he isn't playing this year.
Dec-11-12  Refused: Nice tournament for Julian "Jule" Zimmermann. Didn't know he was playing in London.
Dec-11-12  waustad: 7/9 and tied for third. I wonder if that was good for a norm. That's a good result for Houska.
Dec-13-12  achieve: Great result from a "promising" young dutchman, Robin van Kampen, maybe on the verge of breaking through to the 2600 club?

I hope he will, and sort of get the deserved reward for all the time and energy invested. And talent, of course.
