Magnus Carlsen won his 1st of 3 GM norms here. The 3rd Aeroflot Festival (2004) awarded him the 2nd norm, and he achieved his final norm at the 6th Dubai Open (2004) by the end of April. Along with many other news sources, the Washington Post featured (2) his Round 12 mating attack in Carlsen vs S Ernst, 2004. ChessBase report: https://en.chessbase.com/post/the-m....
