Chessgames.com Chess Event Description
St. Louis Rapid & Blitz (Rapid) (2017)

Played in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA 14-16 August, as part of the Grand Chess Tour 2017. The ten participants first played nine games of rapid chess (this page) then 18 games of blitz (see St. Louis Rapid & Blitz (Blitz) (2017)) for a total prize fund of $150,000. Garry Kasparov played for the first time since the Ultimate Blitz Challenge (2016). Levon Aronian won the rapid with 6/9. (1) Crosstable:

perfidious: <Doc W>, these events will only have an impact on Kasparov's blitz and rapid ratings.
Aug-20-17  Dr Winston OBoogie: Thanks for the answer Perf. So even though he's been retired over a decade he <still> has one of the highest ever ratings in history..#GoKaspy

jith1207: Yeah, until he plays more games rated in all formats and start losing big time, that record is safe.
Aug-21-17  SugarDom: What record? It's already broken.

Noblesse oblige as we say here in Holland.

Anyway, I guess cg offered me a premium account because I actually am willing to make relevant contributions.

However, I must observe that other people make contributions as well, otherwise my motivation to contribute to this site is like throwing pearls to the swines.

And we don't want that.

Appaz: <Worst> It seems to me you have a little problem keeping your promise of not posting here anymore, so I'll give you a little help...

There! It's quite easy to keep these pages relevant and civilized.

Exactly! Praising someone to subsequently turn Maurice down isn't civilized. So I am glad we do agree about that.

By the way... as it comes to promises.. I am in good company; I learnt that trick from Short ☺

Now... go to the Short page to confirm your sense of consequence. C'mon... dontha be shy. You have demonstrated you can do it.

tpstar: <WorstPlayerEver> What was your favorite game from the Rapid portion? This was mine:

Aronian vs Navara, 2017

We have a Holland, Michigan which even features a Dutch Village with colorful candles and wooden shoes.

Kasparov vs Navarra

And from the Blitz:

Kasparov vs Caruana

Because it just showed Kasparov was the most inventive player in the tournament. Without a doubt.

Again, I don't attack Kasparov the chess player, but Kasparov the wimpy politician. Or Kasparov the wimpy chess organisator.

And not only Kasparov but the whole bunch of them.

This exactly shows how corrupt these guys are; you won't find an English wiki page about the GMA. Doesn't fit in the global socialist agenda it seems.

  WorstPlayerEver: PS

An article from may 2012 proves things in the socialist world don't happen coincedentally; it's a vast organization: with a vast -corrupt- agenda.

U bent ook een grote fan van Bob Dylan begreep ik. Klopt dat?

(I understand that you are a great fan of Bob Dylan. Is that true?)

Timman: “Ja, al heel lang. Zeker. Dat heeft niet in de laatste plaats met zijn teksten te maken. Die zijn een vorm van literatuur. Het zou BEST kunnen dat hij ooit nog eens de Nobel-prijs krijgt. Ik zou het fantastisch vinden als dat gebeurt.”

"It SURE could happen that he (Bob) would eventually get the Nobel Prize. I would be delighted when that happens..."

  WorstPlayerEver: PPS:

Don't you think it's a bit scary that guys like Nunn and Short decide what to post about chess -and what not- about chess at wiki?

Yes folks, that's exactly how corrupt wiki is. As I have mentioned before, isn't it FSR?

Luckily guys like Timman are as dumb as they come, OTHERWISE I would not HAVE any proof.

WorstPlayerEver: Nunn's mutilation of 'My 60 Memorable Games' by Bobby Fischer was meant intentional; the proof is in the pudding.

Now google: fischer chess book

My 60 Memorable Games by Bobby Fischer won't show up....

WorstPlayerEver: Of course it won't show up: Fischer won; it's check and mate, guys.

What are you going on about? If I follow your reasoning, everything in chess is dictated by a universal socialist conspiracy which is proven by the following interview:

"U bent ook een grote fan van Bob Dylan begreep ik.

I would be delighted when that happens...">

There are so many bad inferences there I don't know where to start. First of all, you seem to be saying that Timman is a socialist because he enjoys the texts of Bob Dylan, who is also supposedly a socialist. Then from that dubious inference, you imply that Timman the alleged socialist has the power to determine the outcome of the Nobel Prize. Do you think "It SURE could happen" means that Timman knew it would happen or even made it happen?

"SURE could happen" has nothing to do with "definitely", it means "very likely", just like "Het zou BEST kunnen dat" = It may very well happen/It wouldn't surprise me.

Anyway, this isn't the socialist conspiracy forum. They would be delighted to read that kind of thing on the Rogoff page or Big Pawn's forum, why don't you post it there?

Is there a doctor in the house?

tpstar: <WorstPlayerEver> It was great to see Kasparov back in action, and the live broadcast set records for viewership, but Aronian's play was also very inventive.

Regarding Kasparov vs Navara, 2017 I played that Caro-Kann line as White in my junior days, with the Pawn formation e5/f4/g4/h5 (a quart grip) giving space and attacking chances on the Kingside. Kasparov seemed to have that game under control until Black made quite a comeback.

He only used that line once before = Kasparov vs Karpov, 2001
