|Oct-21-17|| ||Sokrates: Two 2600 something players meet for a match. Why? Why not? I don't know, but if they produce some great games, I'll clap my hands.|
|Oct-21-17|| ||fisayo123: <Sokrates> As stated abouve, this is being hosted in Holland. Van Foreest is one of Holland's most promising players and Adhiban is a world top 100 player who had a good showing in Holland's premier supertournament last year. |
<Two 2600 something players meet for a match.>
Utterly pointless comment. What are you trying to say?
|Oct-22-17|| ||Sokrates: <fisayo123> I was cluelessly asking for a reason behind this match - besides the fact that they are two good GM's. Usually there is a reason, a cause for arranging such a match. Of course, they don't HAVE to have a specific reason, but that's what I called for, hence my question marks.|
|Oct-23-17|| ||FSR: If you look at the description of this match, you'll see that this is the third year in a row that van Foreest has been paired against a stronger player in this match. Evidently the organizers want to get this junior more experience against higher-rated opponents.|
|Oct-24-17|| ||Sokrates: <FSR> Correct, but when I examine the merits of the young man, he has played in many opens, Tata Steel, and the Bundesliga, thus gaining much experience versus a variety of opponents. True, matches requiere a different strategy in preparation and mental mobilisation. Perhaps match experience, specifically, was the basic purpose. |
Anyway, Van Foreest must be a shining and rising star in the eyes of the organisers/sponsors, and I guess it's admirable that they so actively forward his career.
|Oct-25-17|| ||ketchuplover: I move then I think|
|Oct-27-17|| ||GiuocoPianoMan: How is that working out for you?|
|Oct-27-17|| ||Sokrates: I think the "I" from <ketchuplover> was meant as a sarcastic reference to me.|
