Really tough final day at the London Chess Classic; thrilled to have fought well and clinched my first London title. Kudos to Ian on an excellent tournament and Magnus on winning the Grand Chess Tour.

But is it true, both qualifying players for the tiebreak split the prize money equally?

<5. The playoff shall determine the winner of the Event and the allocation of the Event level GCT points. The playoff shall not affect the distribution of the Event level prize money which shall be divided evenly amongst all players involved in the tie for first place.>

Btw, games 3 & 4 were 5 + 3 Blitz.

zanzibar: Thanks <Tab> for that info.

I think it's a bit exceptional. I'm curious, was this the case for all GCT tournaments?

(I might investigate later - but if someone knows off the top of their head...)

Tabanus: <was this the case for all GCT tournaments?> Yes, the link is the rule for all GCT events 2017. This links to same:

Dec-13-17  SirRuthless: Weren't these blitz games? 2*10+2 and 2*5+2?
Premium Chessgames Member
Tabanus: : 10+2 is Rapid per FIDEs definition. 10+0 = Blitz.

See regulations link: they played 2 x 10+5 (Rapid) and 2 x 5+3 (Blitz).
