The 31st Torneo Magistral de Ajedrez Ciudad de León was played in Leon, Spain, 6-8 July 2018. The tournament was a knockout with two semifinals and a final. Time control: 20m + 10s/m (12 rapid games) and 5m + 3s/m (4 blitz playoff games). Tournament director: Marcelino Sion Castro. Chief arbiter: Joaquin Espejo Maqueda.
The event was won by Wesley So, who after 2-2 in the rapid games beat Vallejo 2-0 in the blitz playoff.
