In 1972, Bobby Fischer defeated World Champion Boris Spassky. This was to break the back of the Soviet Machine that had dominated world chess from the time that Mikhail Botvinnik won the 1948 Championship Tournament.

After that, the Soviets had completely dominated world chess, both in their strangle-hold on the world title, and their domination of the Chess Olympics.

This collection is based on the book <Russians versus Fischer>, which gives many articles and insights that showed that the Russian Machine was fearful of Fischer, and knew that one day he would destroy their hold on the World Title.
