An attempt to find the earliest publication of each and improve and dates, names and scores in the database.

Two McConnell games were published in "The Chess World" of 1865, page 293: "The two following games, which we owe to the kindness of Mr. Charles Manrian, an enthusiastic and skillful chess amateur of New Orleans, were played when Mr. Morphy was quite a boy, in 1852, and have never before been printed." http://books.google.com/books?id=p3... G1 was published in London's Field column (9/18/1858) and dated as 1849. http://www.chessarch.com/excavation... Update! The game was first published in the New_York_Clipper of 18560726 and given an exact date Oct 20 1852 by E Morphy and N Marache. http://www.chessarch.com/excavation... Maurian published G2 in 1858 in the NO Sunday Delta and dated it as 1849. http://www.chessarch.com/excavation.... The move order in CG is wrong should be 9.g3 Nc6 10.Nf4 Bd7 11.Nc3 Nf6.

Game 10 - The Chess Monthly, Vol 1, 1857, page 371, game LXXXI Dr A. D. Ayers. Jay Whitehead gives Alfred D Ayers. this is unconfirmed but we mention it here as a possibility for further research. Game was played March 1, 1855.

Game 15 - Maurian in the New Orleans Times-Democrat of July 27, 1884. "The subjoined curious little partie at odds Queen's Rook, which is given in the various collections of Morphy's games simply as an Amateur, will acquire renewed interest for the chess world when it is stated that the Amateur in question was in fact Morphy's father, Judge Alonzo Morphy, and that the game was played about the year 1850, when the great master was hardly thirteen years old" - Lawson p,82
