Held at Baguio city in July and August. Viswanathan Anand emerged victorious. Vassily Ivanchuk and Canadian player Vinny Puri were a few recognizable names, along with Patrick Wolff , Grigory Serper , Simen Agdestein , Pavel Blatny , Ivan Sokolov , Vladimir Akopian and others.
