Goering Gambit by TG Forney / Bonus Fredthebear
Compiled by fredthebear
--*--

This Goering Gambit collection was compiled by Timothy Glenn Forney. Fredthebear, alligator, etc. copied it from Timothy Glenn Forney. Thank you Timothy Glenn Forney!

Fredthebear added some Dragoljub Velimirovic games from vasileios. Thank you vasileios!

MicheleLiguori listed a quick White king pawn repertoire featuring two Goring Gambits. These games are included here. Then the party REALLY got rockin' & rollin'!! Her brief repertoire has been GREATLY ENLARGED by Fredthebear.

Two completely opposite approaches have been made available against Petrov's Defense. Gambitfan supplied the go-for-broke Cochrane Gambit which features the astonishing 4.Nxf7?! KxNf7. Just keep in mind that locals will soon become accustomed to the sudden knight sacrifice and book up properly. So the Cochrane Gambit's surprise value is lost soon enough, yet having lost the right to castle and the open diagonal can still bother a classical defender. Thank you Gambitfan! The solid (some might say sterile) Cozio-Lasker Attack featuring an early exchange of queens on the e-file is the long, slow scenic route. Most gambiteers certainly don't favor queen exchanges, even if many great players have used it. It does give White an easy start, and studying the games of the greats will be beneficial.

Mating Net contributed a significant portion of the Sicilian Alapin 2.c3 games. Various additional games were included randomly, so the reader will have to select certain lines and narrow their approach. Thank you Mating Net!

At the bottom are various types of checkmate patterns from gambits and Scotch-related games of attack. If nothing else, it gives the reader an aggressive change-up for blitz games down at the club. It's probably wise to keep them guessing as to what version of the Scotch (or Danish) you will trot out!

Fredthebear got carried away with easy to find miniatures of the Danish Gambit, a pawn cousin of the Goering Gambit. If White initiates the Danish and captures Nxc3 (sometimes because Black refuses to play cxb2), it transposes to the Goering Gambit after Nf3. Alexander Alekhine would play this way on occasion. With 2.Nf3, the Goering Gambit is considered more sound than the Danish Gambit, but the Danish has collected it's share of scalps. It's another change-up for the 1.e4 e5 player sharing some common attacking themes.

Additional games will be added over the course of time as Fredthebear gradually comes across games that fit in. The quality varies, as does the quality of your opponents.

Scotch game:

Main line 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 Bc5 or 4... Nf6 or 4.... Qh4

Scotch gambit 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Bc4 Bc5 5.c3 dxc3 6.Nxc3 d6

Goering gambit 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.c3 dxc3 6.Bc4 d6

Danish gambit accepted 1.e4 e5 2.d4 exd4 3.c3 dxc3 4.Bc4 cxb2 5.Bxb2 (considered refuted by masters but lethal against wood pushers)
