technical draw: From the NY times:

<American intelligence and counterterrorism officials said Friday that there was mounting evidence that a Pakistani militant group — Lashkar-e-Taiba, which has long been involved in the conflict with India over the disputed territory of Kashmir — was responsible.>

Forget that. The US has to say something now but what they do know they wouldn't be saying.

Travis Bickle: <technical draw: Also the temerity of the assailants presents the world with a new kind of terrorists, a no feeling, fearless, wanton killer, that is very hard to deal with. Also the planning of the attacks show deliberate attempt to just kill as many as possible and for what reason? At least for now nobody knows for sure. 911 produced one kind of terrorist, Mumbai another. Will we survive?> We will definetely survive! Terrorists are cowards who prey on the weak and thrive on the fear they cause. After 911 The United States has survived. You must fight aggression with aggression, but fear can not and will not be in our vocabulary.
Nov-29-08  Jim Bartle: I'm no expert on any of this, but I think a major obstacle is that these attackers have no interest in protecting their own lives. Seems they just want to take as many lives and cause as much damage as possible before they are killed.
Nov-29-08  Tactic101: <Jim Bartle> I couldn't agree more. Perhaps the most memorable line I've heard about terrorism is as follows:

"On September 11th, we saw two types of people. One type died to kill others and the other died to save others."

Heard that 7 years ago and I still remember it.

That pretty much sums up all terrorist activities.

Octavia: The worst terrorist is the US Gov: they've terrorised Iraq & now, for many years Afghanistan - neither country did the US any harm. As we speak, people are being killed by US machinery. I've heard that Obama is planning to step up the fight to kill even more people in Afghanistan with the help of Britain - its disgraceful.

One molecule found in an entire galaxy? Ho, Ho , ho, you gotta be kidding! Not even a trillion monkeys peering through telescopes will achieve that. How can you find one molecule in that vast area yet not find any form of life? Go to another dog with that bone!

Chess Classics: <Travis Bickle> Unchecked aggression is not the answer. Proactive government policies that increase "soft power" such as closing Guantanamo Bay would probably take us a lot farther in winning over hearts and minds abroad then empty and potentially counterproductive rhetoric about rejecting fear.

Or as Chomsky said, "Everyone's asking how we can reduce terrorism. There's a really simple way: stop participating in it."

CC

Travis Bickle: <Chess Classics> Yes I agree with your statements, but lets not forget torture was and is practiced in countless governments, as in Russia where an innocent Kasparov just trying to run for office was hit over the head with a wooden chessboard from Putins orders and also jailed for being a candidate. Lets also not forget Soviet journalists, political activists, celebrities, and innocent people under suspicion were placed in prison never to be heard from again! During Wolrd War ll Japan used a technique called Chinese water torture on soldiers. Also bamboo hammered under American GI's fingernails. I dont want to even speak of what the North Vietnamese did! While I admit that Bush is the worst President in American history and in my and many Americans opinions should have been impeached, and his war with Iraq is over oil and was an effort to out due his father Bush Sr. in capturing Sadam Hussein, not about liberating an oppressed people or terrorist activity. Vice President Dick Cheney on a live news broadcast on television was told by a journalist that about 80 per cent of the American people were against the Iraq war, to which Cheney replied an emphatic "So"! It is interesting that when it comes to torture which I totally abhore and am strongly against, it seems only the American government is judged.
Nov-30-08  timhortons: <Travis Bickle>americans is the first who use water torture/water cure and youre senate has a finding of some sort that its the must humane form of torture.

it is done by inserting a tube through a mouth going to the stomaach and when the stomach bloat they jump over in it, these is how my grandmother tell me how they do the procedure.

i just read it with the books in filipino american war as well as a friend a doctor who relate me how his great grandfather become a victim of it when his son could not be captured as rebels ( filipino-american war).

even then youre senate is active monitoring the excesses of youre soldiers and there are senators whos gathering these facts and presenting to american public the wrongdoings of youre soldier.

but those are of the past.1899-1902

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_... <heres the link that explain how american soldier use these as an interrogation and killing technique.

Travis Bickle: <timhortons: <nitram:>nice handle:) european countries did it before the united states, ok so that makes it everybody equal :)> In other words other governments do it so its ok ; ) what a crock of b@#%s#@$! Tim have you ever been a soldier? I was a marine in Vietnam. I witnessed atrocities as many of my fellow comrades what happened to many American soldiers. They were hacked to death with machetes, then had their genitals removed placed in their mouths and hung for the public to see. Is that humane Tim? Try doing a little research on what Nazi SS did to about 6 million innocent Jews during world war ll and then talk about inhumane treatment. In Arab countries to this day they have cut off the heads of journalists and hostages for some Gihad cause! Is that ok with you too because other governments torture Tim?
Dec-01-08  timhortons: travis- my point is all warring countries-armies equal in inflicting atrocities to each other, no more no less. even the terrorist too had resons to fight for the way americans had reasons too to save everybody from dictators and tyrant.shooting and saving.

id read in the biography of moshe dayan, at one time when they were fighting for establishment of the state of israel, there was an incident that they bomb a hotel.

look people do things for reason, each just a matter in what fench you belong.

Dec-01-08  timhortons: nitram: history tells that GOD is on the side of those who had bigger guns.

dont worry you and travis is on the safe side.
