 | | HeMateMe: I would rank Bowie No. 1, followed by the Sweet. The Sweet had a number of hit records, and they were as far over the top as anyone. Roxy Music is a bit of a snooze. Of course no one tops Bowie.
somehow, the New York Dolls had an audience, though they are the least musical of the entire bunch. One might consider adding <Frankenfurter> from the film <Rocky Horror Picture Show>, he of the leather panties and high heels: <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDKy...> |

 | | harrylime: Nah.. omitting 'Slade' off your list is seriously criminal. .. lol |

 | | Domdaniel: <frogbert> -- <a.k.a. cg.com's "who knows who, who's pop and who's not" ...> That is notally unfair. CG.com have nothing to do with running the Caissar awards, which are run and voted on by members for members. Anyone can vote, anyone can win. So, which category you vant nomination in, frogbert, old pal? |
 |
Dec-31-11
 | | Once: I suspect Frogbert meant that it is <on> CG.com, not that it is <run by> CG.com. |
 |
Dec-31-11
 | | Domdaniel: <Once> Yes, and I meant 'totally', not 'notally'. But I think his implication was that Caissar is a sort of closed shop run by some self-congratulating insider cabal. And *that* is unfair. Last year, the 'best analyst' winner was a Filipino chap, who posted mainly in Tagalog and whom few of the Euro-American regulars had heard of. There were mutterings about 'loading the vote' and 'voting by tribe' ... but he really was a good analyst, and the win stood. A few of us have been trying to widen the Caissar net and get more people involved. The cynical response offered by frogbert is all too common -- but I still plan to nominate him for 'most helpful'. Really. I'm thinking of splitting my 'best analyst' vote between AJ and a member of the troop. They'll enjoy that. You're due 'Best Written' after a near miss last year - plus whatever comes closest to 'conciliator'. |

 | | HeMateMe: I think Syria and North Korea should switch dictatorships, in this coming new year. The kook family running Syria, the Assads, could move to North Korea, and get some good cold mountain air. Also, they could learn something of mechanical engineering, good to know, when the oil money is gone, down the road. Kim Jong (the Chosin One) could run Syria. That warm sun could do wonders for those pasty faced korean dictators. He could use some exercise, too. Perhaps a little camel polo? The possibility of being overrun by thousands of protesters might give the kid a better perspective on life. |
 |
Dec-31-11
 | | Domdaniel: <HeMateMe> A superb idea, but I doubt whether Dear Sprog could survive the culture shock. He could cope with the power to kill, mutilate and torture those who disagree with him ... but the knowledge that they exist at all could be catastrophic. Assad jnr in North Korea is just a hoot, though. |

 | | WannaBe: <<<ANNOUNCEMENT>>> The Annual Caissar Award will commence soon. This is a long CG.com tradition that was started in 2004 by <Nikolaas>. As usual, we will have our regular 11 categories, ranging from serious to the silly, possibly absurd. <Best Avatar - Non James Cameron Category>, <Best Profile>, <Best Game Collection>, <Best Historian>, <Best Username/Handle>, <Best Written Post>, <Funniest Kibitzer>, <Most Constructive>, <Best Informed>, <Most Helpful>, <Best Analysis - Non Silicon/Computer Category> So, please take a moment this weekend, while you are passed out (or recovering) from champaign, to consider who should deserve a nomination. Who have written some of the most thoughful posts, which member have helped (you) out the most when you posed that 'What happens if 25...Rxd4'? Who have been most constructive in helping/improving CG.com's community, recommending new feature(s) to the admins. |

 | | Domdaniel: PS. There's a movie in there. It could be called, eh, <Trading Places>. Though Chaplin got close 75 years ago with The Great Dictator. - Where are my virgins? Whaddaya mean you got none left? Guards, execute this man! Now call the hospital and make me some new ones... virgins, idiot, not prime ministers. |

'The Hustler' is one of those movies which just cannot be copied or sequaled. It's a one off. Unique. Magnificent.Haunting.Inimitible. |
