waustad: The hula hoop and beachball competitions are impressive, but they seem more to be dance events than sport. It's a lot easier to see who wins when somebody throws something farther or runs somewhere faster. The judges for these events in competitions are largely ballet critics. I'm in no way denigrating the amazing achievement. I'm just surprised that they lump them together with sports in things like the olympics.

What do you folks think of the effort to get chess into the olympics? I suspect that the only game played by more people is football/soccer. However, I don't see it as an olympic event any more than I think an orchestral competition belongs there.

waustad: 2 more rounds at ACP with Pia Cramling in the lead by 1/2 pt. They should be starting in just a few minutes. The final round with the Cramling vs Lahno should start at 8:00 am EST.

The Pythons could have used you in writing "Life of Brian," TD.

I'd bet "What Happens in Sodom and Gomorrah..." is a salty tale.

And I'd bet that Lot's wife was a pillar of her community.

That's probable, but it's never been documented before and she keeps still on the subject.

Octavia: <What exactly is the average person going to do for work in the future?> All manual work'll be done by robots & we who don't need to prove how clever we are shall enjoy ourselves, care for each other & be merry!

But first we must get rid of the greedy people.

Feb-21-12  AlphaMale: Let's get rid of the stupid people first.

When are you leaving?

HeMateMe: Harvard athletes? Rick Reilly, at SI, says that Harvard has produced more US Presidents (8) than NBA players (4). I guess that puts things in perspective. Quite unusual that Harvard graduated an NBA starter.
