| May-08-12 | | Jim Bartle: It is not my intention to start a war. My purpose is very specific, for Discojew to get an answer to a legitimate question, and for people to see that AJ is avoiding answering that question. Petrosianic: Yes, AJ has the right to delete any post of his player page, but that doesn't make it right. Nigel Short, for example, would be perfectly within his rights to delete every reference to his match loss to Kasparov. He hasn't done it, as it would be ridiculous. |
 |
| May-08-12 | | Jim Bartle: Petrosianic: The only reason discojew posted the game was as part of questioning why AJ accused him of cheating. |
 |
| May-08-12 | | Petrosianic: I don't know if deleting blitz games is quite the same as deleting world championship games. But even if it is, AJ being petulant shouldn't take anyone by surprise any more, yet somehow people swear that it does. If Short deleted any references to his losses, people wouldn't take him seriously any more, and nobody would go to his page. When AJ does the same thing, it seems to make people take him MORE seriously. That's why his critics are almost as much to blame as he is. They know what he's like, yet constantly pretend to be surprised by it. That's trolling of a sort also. |
 |
| May-08-12 | | Jim Bartle: I was just using Short as an example to illustrate your claim that a player can delete any post of his or her player page for any reason. I haven't been among the AJ critics for more than a year, perhaps more. It just bothered me that he would delete a post with a serious question, and which happened to include the moves of a game he lost. In truth I WAS surprised that AJ deleted that post, and a couple which followed. I wouldn't have been surprised had he just ignored it. |

 |
| May-08-12 | | Petrosianic: I'm only a casual observer, who's never even had a run-in with him, and I know that that's the kind of guy he is. So where's the surprising part? |

| May-08-12 | | diceman: <Petrosianic: I don't know if deleting blitz games is quite the same as deleting world championship games.> The game score of Spassky’s win against Fischer in game 2 of the 72 match is missing, both suspicious, and troubling. |

I like this thing from the late 70s, when musician Carole King put his story "Rosie Real" to music, making an LP: Really Rosie:

 | | tpstar: Kibitzers who don't have Premium Membership or their own player page could always post their games in the Kibitzer's Cafe for future reference, although they would be harder to find later. Other options are Beer or ? or even the ECO page for that specific opening. Thus this site has a figuratively infinite capacity to post member games, plus there may be a Sandbox someday. I thought the major allure of 3/0 or faster time controls was to eliminate any potential for computer cheating. We will see much more of this "You called me a cheater"/"You are a cheater" discord once the User: Playing Zone is fully underway. |

 | | HeMateMe: Chessgamers v. Chessgamers? There might be some serious beat downs. Those who felt "dissed" will be challenging people. Could be lots of fun. I play at Yahoo as <PawnOrgy> and lose plenty of games there, so I won't need any more humility lessons here. |

| May-08-12 | | Wayne Proudlove: When I first saw the title of rock critic Robert Christgau's article "Trying To Understand The Eagles", my first thought was, "But why?"
But at only four pages I decided to read it and I'm glad I did.
He points out that The Eagles as symbol for flight/free lifestyle is a bit misleading because the eagle is also up there searching for prey = American imperialism.
In fact there was a genuine movement among the rock counterculture in the early seventies to really work towards a humane society combined with the ingrained American pioneer spirit.
But The Eagles played a big part among those who stepped up to plate in a big pair of capitalist and chauvanist shoes.
However they are very good at what they do and earn big paychecks like many pros.
Christgau looks at some lyrics and with regard to "Peaceful Easy Feeling" concludes "don't trust anyone who tells you "Don't even try to understand". |

I like Christgau's writing, I don't mind pretentiousness. Actually I've read him be very grateful to his friends and colleagues and inspirations, like many writers. So he SEEMS to be a lone wolf. |
