did'nt go thru it all.. It was some list ! lol

But noticed Naka in 2011 rated at 2878 .. and Fischer in 1972 rated at 2825..

When allowing for the 40 years and inflation over that time ??! lol Jeez! What would Fischer's rating be now ? .. Jeez.

OhioChessFan: Interesting article <Cemo>, though I am trying not to grate my teeth over the lack of editing. One update:

<Shortest world championship win. In 1872, Steinitz defeated Zukertort in 19 moves. >

Octavia: I liked the Anand-Gelfand comp! After the first game Gelfand was almost in tears for 'only' drawing & Anand said to him: " But there are many more games to come!" or some such. Anand is a real gentleman which makes a nice change after Kasparov.

You keep on relating strength to ratings as 100% correct. *jezz*

May-31-12  blazerdoodle: I've just noticed Wikipedia has a lot on chess. On the openings, terms, etc. Doesn't go into depth like a treatise might, but does it have to? Seems like a great place for a beginner to start. What would you think?

OhioChessFan: <blazer> there's a couple regs here who edit Wiki. <FSR> and <tpstar> and I think a couple more. It's not a bad starting place, hardly where I'd first send someone to learn how to play, but the history in particular is a good read.
May-31-12  blazerdoodle: Thanks. I should have guessed something like that.

Where would you send someone? I mean, online? I've enjoyed collecting books over the years, so I know one should keep abreast of them, but I haven't. I'm just a chess "buff" who plays online anymore.

May-31-12  blazerdoodle: Uh, the obvious answer might be "right here..." ? lol...
