| Sep-08-12 | | Wayne Proudlove: I came across a Robert Christgau line that described the Dave Matthews Band as "bland as a tofu sandwich."
I thought that was pretty good. |
 |
| Sep-08-12 | | Wayne Proudlove: He also says "Dylan's music sounds relaxed but not lazy, which is always the trick."
I added this because my point's more about Christgau's astuteness than anything. |

| Sep-08-12 | | Science freak: Khan Academy is a free online website for all science and math lovers, or just for those people who want to learn something new! Salman Amin 'Sal' Khan (Bengali: সালমান খান;[2] born October 11, 1976) is a Bengali-American[3] educator and the founder of the Khan Academy, a free online education platform and nonprofit organization. From a small office in his home, Khan has produced over 3000 videos elucidating a wide spectrum of academic subjects, mainly focusing on mathematics and the sciences. As of July 2012, the Khan Academy channel on YouTube has attracted more than 375,000 subscribers.[4] In 2012, American magazine Time named Salman Khan in its annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world: Time 100.[5] |

| Sep-08-12 | | Science freak: Salman Khan has been featured on the The Colbert Report,[10] PBS NewsHour,[15][16][17] CNN,[18] and National Public Radio.[19] In 2009, the Khan Academy received the Microsoft Tech Award for education.[20] In 2010, Google provided $2 million to support the creation of more courses and to enable the Khan Academy to translate its core library into the world’s most widely spoken languages.[21] In October 2010, Khan was tied for #34 in Fortune's annual "40 under 40", a list recognizing business's hottest rising stars.[22] In March 2011, Salman Khan was invited to speak at TED by Bill Gates who says he uses the Khan Academy Exercise Software to teach his own children. In May 2011, Salman Khan appeared on The Colbert Report to talk in an interview about his teachings. He told the audience how he planned to use his software to revolutionize the field of education. Included in his interview was a montage of notable teaching moments from Khan's YouTube channel.

6. Jerry Lewis?
7. Ernest Borgnine?
8. Sean Penn?
9. Ed Asner?
10. Bill Parcells?
<http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf...> I like former Buffalo Bills coach <Marv Leavy> to play Jerry Sandusky. I doubt Marv would want the job, but there is definitely a resemblance. |

| Sep-09-12 | | Wayne Proudlove: I'm Protestant, and for us Joe Paterno would have to do some "works" to get back in the lineup for heaven.
Alot of the American Christians talk about their "faith" and all that but faith alone doesn't do it; because "faith without works is dead" (James 2:26). |
 |
Sep-09-12
 | | HeMateMe: What kind of "works" are we talking here? |
 |

 |
| Sep-09-12 | | Science freak: I have tried, but not succeeded. Even if you guys are not interested in science, the least I could have got was a courteous response. Not a couple of sarcastic comments. I see you guys are pretty snobbish, and don't really like to mix out of the community. Other than one poke my comments have been completely ignored. You guys can't progress like this. Well, its your loss, thought I feel bad. Adieu. |

 | | soldal: <WP> posted a link to Dylan's 1962 performance of the traditional "Roll On, John". Here's Dylan's NEW "Roll On, John" from the Tempest album. It's about John Lennon (with a few Lennon lines in the lyrics and also sounding a bit like a Lennon song). http://www.faz.net/aktuell/feuillet... In addition, it may be about John of Patmos (cues: slave, cave, island), usually identified with John the Evangelist or John the Apostle or both, who wrote the Book of Revelation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_o... Unofficial lyrics:
ROLL ON, JOHN
Doctor, doctor tell me the time of day
Another bar is empty, another penny spent
He turned around and he slowly walked away
They shot him in the back and down he went
Shine your light
Movin' on
You burned so bright
Roll on, John
From the Liverpool docks to the red-light Hamburg
Down in the quarry with the quarrymen
Playing to the big crowds, playing to the cheap seats
Another day in the life on your way to your journey then
Shine your light,
Movin' on
You burned so bright
Roll on, John
Sailin' through the trade winds bound for the South
Rags on your back just like any other slave
They tied your hands and they clamped your mouth
Wasn't no way out of that deep dark cave
Shine your light
Movin' on
You burned so bright
Roll on, John
I heard the news today, oh boy
They hauled your ship up on the shore
Now the city gone dark, there is no more joy
They tore the heart right out and cut him to the core
Shine your light
Movin' on
You burned so bright
Roll on, John
Put on your bags and get 'em packed
Leave right now, you won't be far from wrong
The sooner you go the quicker you'll be back
You've been cooped on an island far too long
Shine your light
Movin' on
You burned so bright
Roll on, John
Slow down you're moving way too fast
Come together right now over me
Your bones are weary, you're about to breathe your last
Lord, you know how hard it can be
Shine your light
Movin' on
You burned so bright
Roll on, John
Roll on, John, roll through the rain and snow
Take the right-hand road and go where the buffalo roam
They'll trap you in an ambush before you know
Too late now to sail back home
Shine your light
Movin' on
You burned so bright
Roll on, John
Tyger, tyger burning bright
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
In the forests of the night
Cover 'em over and let him sleep
Shine your light
Movin' on
You burned so bright
Roll on, John |
