Oct-06-12  Wayne Proudlove: What is surprising about U.S. golf crowds behaving badly? Golf's for losers, man.

HeMateMe: I think if you paid for a ticket, you can cheer or boo, as long as you cause no physical harm. If quarterbacks can throw the ball while 50,000 people scream "Kill him!" then a golfer can make his/her swing with people yelling also.

Especially if it's Woods, out there do'in hookers while he has a wife and kid at home, and collecting big endorsement monies because he's a "roll model".

OhioChessFan: First and only time we heard from <Mr. Big>>

<perfidious> I can't believe a chess player would be in the, uh, enhancement business.

<OCF> <Mr. Big> is probably the same <Branden Bournival>, Fide Master and anatomy scammer.

I think he's a roll model for Pillsbury, if I'm not mistaken.

perfidious: < HeMateMe: ....Woods (is) a "roll model".>

The women rolled for him, all right, in typical fashion when it's all business: value given, value received.

This was proven anew-as if proof were needed-in the aftermath of wifey practising her abilities with a club upon her not-so-loving hubby.

Oct-06-12  Wayne Proudlove: So. I was talking to a guy I know about politics and he said, "I love all my brothers, I talk to communists and I talk to fascists." I replied, "I might talk to communists but I won't talk to fascists." Something to think about.

Jonathan Sarfati: Hjartarson vs O R Lloyd, 1982 should be credited to Adrian Lloyd; The game was published in "New Zealand Chess" as a great achievement by the NZ rep in the World Junior. I have no idea where Osvaldo R Lloyd was dreamed up.

tpstar: <Suppose a GM needs psychiatric help in his chess career because he suddenly is in a manic, or mixed episode. The doctor then prescribes an antipsychotic like aripiprazole, should the maestro be "punished" or fined if the anti-doping test is positive?>

Aripiprazole/Abilify is not a drug of abuse and would never show up on any testing for illicit substances, even the extended panel. However, it would not surprise me at all if something else showed up in their system.

<I believe that ALL chess players that are eccentrics can be helped with psychiatric medication. Their creativity would not be lost with a proper intake of the drugs.>

Chess is the perfect pastime for crazy people.

<I might talk to communists but I won't talk to fascists.>

If you were turning around when you said so, that is a Communist Revolution

Nothing, sadly.

But Golf is different to most other 'big' sports.. it has an etiquette and integrity which is unequalled in world sport.

Golf is cool , man. ( The LOL nearly landed there but I thought I'd give it a rest and just play my sand wedge )

Oct-07-12  Wayne Proudlove: You're right, harry.
But everything is cool. Or can be.
Choose what you think is cool and stick with it, kids.

HeMateMe: Did anyone see that article on Chessbase, a couple of days ago? Shirov and nine other players were giving simuls in a German town, Lowberg, I think.

Then, Kasparov, a special invitee, is there to talk about making chess a regular class in the schools there, part of the curriculum. Shirov had stood on stage with the other nine strong players, for a group photo.

When Kasparov got on the stage for the group photo, Shirov left and could be seen off in wing, visible, but he wouldn't be part of a group photo with Kasparov.

Still some bad blood from that WC match that never took place.

Appaz: Sweet revenge. Kasparov might have won that particular battle, but Shirov now has a mighty weapon: the privilege of constantly reminding the world of what an a...hole Kasparov could be.

Now, was it worth it, Garry, or did you miscalculate?
