Oct-09-12  diceman: <HeMateMe: Did anyone see that movie, pretty recent, where Russell Crowe's wife is accused of a crime she didn't commit, and he breaks her out of a USA jail?>

It was nothing to Crowe about.

Oct-09-12  Troller: <On that list I see an over abundance of backgammon players from Denmark. It must be the national pastime.>

I recognize several of those Danish names as chessplayers; some are also noted poker players.

  HeMateMe: Surely you've all heard of "Passed Pawn Felsom"? He was a chess hustler from the midwest.

  The Snark: I'm trying to look at a game from the 1894 Steinitz vs Lasker championship and all I can view is kibitzer's comments and the "guess the move" version. How in the world do I just watch the bloody game?

Oct-09-12  Bengambit: To TheFocus,i am a recovering addict. And you don't know what's really going on with people until you have someone close to you die or either steal all you have just to support that habit. These are people,from all walks of life who have habits they can't break,until they turn their life around and stop,or die. I see that you don't have a rats ass of a clue who your talking about,but I can tell you this much,wait until it hits home that someone close to you gets to the point of death from an addiction,then you will change your tune.........

  HeMateMe: New Led Zep movie coming out, <Celebration Day>, about a 2007 Zep reunion concert.

<http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/08/showb...>

BTW, did anyone see the rockumenatary <This is It>, the film about Michael Jackson's plan to stage 30 concerts at London's O2 arena? Jackson died before the concerts could take place, but a film about the show had already been planned, and there is a lot of backround footage showing rehearsals for the final shows (which, unfortunately, never happened).

The documenatry is very good, captures the back stage workings behind a large production. I think this film would have been better than a film which only showed the final product.

Oct-09-12  Wayne Proudlove: Education:
3-part maneuvers: I'm really big on this idea in chess and it has to be worked on until its second nature. Too many players passively respond to initiative-controlling threats or attack with one or two moves in mind. But I think things in threes work really well in chess.
