  Chessical: The Dragon was a favourite defence of Chajes (see for example: J Corzo vs O Chajes, 1913).

Unlike the above game where he lets himself be cramped by <a5>, Chajes achieves a dynamically equal position (a lack of space for piece activity).

With <24...b5>, Chajes could have achieved a easy draw. Instead, he avoids exchanges, and this gives Suechting the time to advance his <f> pawn to <f5>.

Chajes then exchanges on <f5> which compromises his K-side, and creates the conditions necessary for the losing blunder <35..Ra7?> which permits a back-rank mate. <35...Qe3!> =
