Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-09-04  chesscookie: great game!
Oct-25-04  sandyobrien: great game? pretty bad, even for the 1880's
Nov-10-04  TheGreatNN: Great game after about move 23, anyway.
Jul-09-05  offramp: It is after move 39 that the game gets really interesting. I think that white was just lucky; I think he played some moves with no idea they were the only moves.
Jul-09-05  fgh: Interesting endgame, but definitively not a flawless game.

"At this stage MacLeod examined the position for 1 hour and 10 minutes and then produced a combination which he consummated with the masterly rapidity of Zukertort, the deadly endgame accuracy of Blackburne, and the grace and perfection of Morphy. Applause followed, and a noted chess player among the audience at once presented the lad with a handsome gold pin. Sam Loyd, the prince of problem composers, described it as the finest endgame of the tournament. MacLeod was about 18 at the time."
