Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-27-05   alspookyd: Why not 26. Kg1 instead of Kh2??
I believe that would save the rook.
Jun-27-05   stijn: I think these two players were just not very strong.

Sneaky: Burn, not strong?? He beat Alekhine for crying out loud!
Jun-27-05   sneaky pete: If 26.Kg1 Qe4 27.Qh2 Nxf1 is at least equal. I don't understand the 1-0, confirmed by the tournament table in Feenstra Kuiper's book. Did black lose on time or do I overlook some devilish tactic?
Feb-18-08   Jim Bartle: Burn-Pollock? Sounds like a slogan in a campaign against modern art.

Calli: Funny thing is this game is not Burn-Pollock! <Sneaky Pete> is correct. Burn and Pollock played only two games at NY 1889 and they are in the DB. http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches... This game is Mason-Gossip in the same tournament and was drawn.
Feb-18-08   Jim Bartle: It's Mason-Gossip? Then Burn and Pollock probably heard about it third-hand.

Calli: Well, already have 3 Mason-Gossips here, which of course means one of those is wrong. Perhaps a massive domino effect is about to happen....

Calli: Well, maybe not. This game is a duplicate of J Mason vs Gossip, 1889 AFAIK

The weird part is that clicking the similar games feature does not find the other game.
