Phony Benoni: Good to see Baludr not get dashed for a change. I was thinking the pun might have something to do with Norse mythology, but it's just another video game.

As the for the chess game, resignation might be a bit prematue but is understandable. Material is relatively even at the moment, but Black stands to lose a pawn or so and have his king stuck in the center with the White pieces earning double miles. A glass of mead back at the Valhalla Bar and Grill doesn't sound so bad.

Domdaniel: Baldur's Gate rewards the player for choices made during the game... sounds almost like chess.
Jul-18-13  Tim Delaney: I suppose that opening the position with 10...c5 while one's King remains in the center is not such a great idea. Hey! Have I just discovered a brand new chess principle?

:)

Jul-18-13  Calar: Nice and instructive game. Some mistakes to ponder on:

3...b6 is not precise, since White can immediately seize center with 4.e4. 3...Bb4 leads to standard Nimzo-Indian.

After 8.bxc3 the position looks like equal (sort of) Queen's Indian. But Black starts to delay castling for too long. 9...0-0 and 10...0-0 don't work because of White's Ng5, but 10...Nf6 seems playable.

Whole plan with 10...c5 and 11...cxd4 can't be good. Black, still nowhere near castling, should not hurry to open the position.

After 13.Bg5 and White's quick development of his remaining pieces - you can tell it's not gonna be Black's day. In the end, he's slightly down in material (rook vs two minor pieces), but his king is still in the center and his rooks are totally inactive. Maybe a bit premature resignation, but definitely (eventually) losing position.

Yes, it's true that 10...c5 isn't a great idea ... but of course Black can't castle because of 10...0-0 11.Ng5 winning.

TheAlchemist: Maybe I'm exaggerating just a bit, but calling it just another video game is like saying Kasparov is just another chess player.
