plang: Kemeri (in Latvia) 1937 was Petrov's great tournament achievement. He tied for first with Reshevsky and Flohr one half of a point ahead of Alekhine and Keres with Tartakower, Fine and Stahlberg farther back. Petrov shows good endgame play in this game. Benko is critical of several of Stahlbergs moves. He recommends 21..Rac8 as giving sufficient counterplay for the pawn. He also indicates that 22..Rb8 would have left b8 vacant for the bishop. If 23..Ne4 then 24 a5 maintains the advantage.
