Chessical: David Walker shows the dynamic potential of the Modern Defence in the teeth of a single minded attempt to smash through on the K-side to his K.

After <15.Bh3?> the initiative stays firmly with Black who spots that <Nf5> is now possible, as any recapture will open the <a8-h1> diagonal for Black's powerful B, and reveal a N unprotected on <f3>.

<21...h4!> marks the collapse of White's K -side.

If <28.Kh1> Rae8

<30.Nh4> loses to the following attractive combination, but nothing else works, if <30.Rf2> Rxg3+! 31.hxg3 Qxg3+ 32.Qg2 Re1+ 33.Rf1 Qe3+ 34.Kh1

<30...Rxg3+!> is very attractive; it is also fatal to White. If <32.Qg2> then 32...Bd4+ 33.Kh1 Qxh4+

<32...Bd4+!?> a final (deflection) sacrifice, if 33.Qxd4 Qxg2 mate.
