Jun-08-08  redmadstake: 25. ... Rac8?? is a blunder. Black could initiate BIG attack with 25. ... Ne5! 26. Nxa8 Rg8!!(Black is a piesce down but the attack is awesome) 27. g3 Rxg3+! 28. hxg3 Qxg3+ 29. Kf1 Qf4+ 30.Kg1 Nf3+ 31.Kf1 Nxe1+ 32.Kxe1 Qxe3+ 33. Kf1 Qe2+ 34. Kg1 Qxc2 and now it's Black who's up material.

plang: Through 20..exf the game followed Anand-Kramnik Linares 1998 which had ended in a draw after 21 Qxf3; 21 Rxf3 was new. 21..f4? would have been answered by 22 h4!..Qxh4 23 Rh3..Qxh3 24 gxh..fxe 25 Nxe3 and Black would not have had enough for his queen. 25 Re1? was an error that could have been punished by 26..Ne5 (see previous note); an alternative was 25 Nxf5..Ne7 26 Qd4+..Qxd4 27 Nxd4..Ra7 28 Nce6..Rf6 29 a4 with an unclear position. After Van Wely's blunder it was White that got the quick mating attack rather than Black.
