Feb-09-04  Hidden Skillz: whata nice finish..
Jun-30-04  Sj17: Is there no way for white to trade down to a better position at move 32?

Chessical: Having not played <18.d5>, Viakhiev's game goes downhill fast under Alekhine's pressure. By move 32 Viakhiev has a completely lost position. His K is stranded, and if he moves the Bf2, he will be mated.
Sep-18-04  Knight13: I guess chasing the black queen wasn't a good idea. It drives the black queen to more useful position lol.

<Chessical>,
18.d5 Nb8 19.d6 with the threat of 20.Qf7 looks a lot better than 18.Qc3.

Alekhine considered this game to be one of his favourite CC games played during his youth.

Oct-23-12  lentil: An astonishing mate!
