May-11-06  Whitehat1963: Colle looks simply incompetant here against Alekhine.

wwall: 24.Qc5 looks weak. Perhaps 24.Kf1 or 24.g4.

After 24.Qc5 Qxc5+ 25.bxc5 Alekhine played 25...Nd7. Why not just 25...Rd1 26.Kf1 (26.Rxd1?? Rxd1+ 27.Kf2 Rxc1) R8d3, then Nd7.

26.Be3 looks like the losing move, but what else? Black threatens ...Nxc5. Perhaps 26.Bf4 Nxc5 27.Bxc7, but now Black has 27...Rd1, and if 28.Bxd8??, then 28...Rxe1+ 29.Kf2 Nd3 mate. After 28.Ra1, then 28...Rxe1 29.Rxe1 Rd7 and 30...Na4.

Instead of 27.Bd4? and allowing the fork of the rooks, perhaps best is 27.cxb4 Rxa3, but Black is up too much material.

After 29...Nxc5, Black wins if 30.Bxc5 Rd1+ 31.Rxd1 Rxd1+ 32.Kf2 Rxh1 and 33...Rxh2
