Calli: 26...Rd5! is nice. So why does he not take the pawn after that? 27.Qf4 Rxc5 etc.

ckr: After 27.Rxc5 white may draw by repetition ( 28.Rf2 Qe1+ 29.Rf1 Qe2 30.Rf2 Qe1+ 31.Rf1 Qe2 32.Rf2 Qe1+ 33.Rf1 ) playing 28.Rd2 indicates that AA wanted to avoid the line as he may have had to take a weaker position to avoid the draw. IMHO

Calli: <ckr> Colors reversed ?!?? Dirk Bleijkmans (mispelled in this game) played 26...Rd5! and 27...Rd2? not Al Yeckhin.

ckr: Correct. I wasn't really paying attention to sides or who won. Just tried to present a possible <why Rd2>.

Calli: Well, yes, but Black should play for a draw in the position because of the knight stuck at a6.
