Resignation Trap: <GeauxCool> Yes, Black won. When downloading PGNs for long periods of time (especially with long games) the eyes start to play tricks on the viewer.

The actual concluding moves were 90.Kd1 Qb1+ (<<not>> 90...Qh1+ as in our database) 91.Ke2 Kg2 92.Ke3+ Kf1 93.Rf2+ Ke1 94.Rh2 Qc1+ 95.Kd3 Qd1+ 96.Ke3 Qd5 97 Re2+ Kd1 0-1

Probably the person entering the score of this game confused an "h" with a "b" around 3:00 in the morning, and then stopped when the score no longer made any sense.

Apr-11-06   GeauxCool: Hello Resignation Trap!

Thanks for that. I just assumed these were electronic additions. Who's ever entering these things by hand deserves a raise.

Adams' 73 ... Rg5-g1! is a beautiful example of the <UNSUPPORTED INTERFERNCE/LINE-CLOSING> theme.

The nasty tactical point is that the Black d3-passer promotes after 74 Kf2xRg1 d3-d2

as the White g1-king <BLOCKS> the 1st rank, preventing the White h3-rook from <DEFENDING> the d1-promotion square by 75 Rh3-h1.

notyetagm: Kortchnoi's 39 ... Rc4-c1! in Averbakh vs Korchnoi, 1965 is the most famous example I know of this <UNSUPPORTED LINE-CLOSING> theme.
