Oct-04-04  ArturoRivera: The rook sacrifice makes no sense, this is too tactical for me, even tal wouldnt do it! Probably a blitz...

Honza Cervenka: <ArturoRivera> Do you mean 23...Rg7? It is forced as 23...hxg6 24.Qxg6+ leads to mate and other retreats of Rook on the 7th rank are not better for 24.Bxh7+ Rxh7 25.Qg6+. Black can play also 23...Nh3+ 24.gxh3 Qg5+ 25.Kh1 hxg6 but it is not better than the text move. On the other hand, immediate 24...Kxg7 with idea 25.Re7+ Kh8 26.Bxh7 Nh3+ 27.gxh3 Qg5+ 28.Qg3 Qxe7 would have been a little bit better than 24...Qxf2+.
Oct-05-04  ArturoRivera: oh, i see...thanks!
Oct-05-04  Kean: A bishop on d4 and the other at h5 weakening the enemy position was a good job by Zukertort. He was really a great player, I wonder what went wrong with him against Steinitz.
