Phony Benoni: So who did this Minckwitz character think he was anyway? He doesn't just dare take on Anderssen by himself--he lets Adolf have consultants! No wonder he gets squashed like bug.

Though I can't figure out exactly who that guy "Al" might be. It's a little early for "Big Al" Beliavsky, Albert Pinkus, or Al Horowitz.

Pawn and Two: <Phony Benoni> It looks like there is an error in the names of the players for Black in this game and in the other Minckwitz vs Anderssen/Goring and Allies game in this database.

Both games are given in the book, "The Chess Games of Adolph Anderssen" by Sid Pickard. In both games the opponents are listed as Minckwitz vs Anderssen only.

A separate consultation game, played at Leipzig 1871, and given in this database and in the above book, was between Minckwitz, Cordel and Allies vs Anderssen, Goring and Allies.
