Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-26-07  M.D. Wilson: Great endgame. Surprised no one has commented on this one before. The sequence starting from 17. Bc2 to 24. Qd3 gives Karpov the advantage. He then focuses on obtaining a passed pawn on the QS, and then, very correctly, turns his attention to the KS (after harassing Black's King to the C file), again obtaining a passed pawn. I don't have any software. Do the computers say 17. Nxf4 was a mistake?
Dec-26-07  Chesstalesfan: I have not any software either. Unfortunately. But I am sure 17..Nxf4 was not considered a mistake to Andersson because he is used of exchanges of the type of giving a rook for an opponent`s bishop. This time has not functioned. Leider!
Nov-21-11  nolanryan: fischer would have been eaten alive by karpov
Nov-21-11  Petrosianic: Did Bobby ever change his name to Ulf, or is somebody being a wee bit obsessive?
Nov-21-11  nolanryan: bobby didn't change his name to ulf
