  brankat: Usually the Queen sacrifice, if correct, is followed by either mating, or else gaining material. But in this case we are looking at a "positional" sacrifice, where it is not obvious how the game will continue. This type of the Queens sac is quite rare.

More than anything, here it is based on White's Dark Squares' weakness.
