Jan-07-04  boneheadcharles: White is playing as a team and they still miss a very good move. After 36. f5?, why not 37. exf5e.p.+! to check the king with a pawn and discover an attack on the black queen with the bishop on g4? Then, this could be played as 37. ... Kxf6 38. Bxe6 Kxe6.
Jan-07-04  ossolinskm: If 36. ...f5 37. exf5 e.p.+ than Qxf6. Why would they take it Kxf6??

An Englishman: Good Evening: Iron Maiden, I know of exactly one game which Staunton played vs. Morphy, and this was an informal consultation game. I don't know the names of the teammates. Supposedly, after this Staunton never played Morphy again.

tamar: <An Englishman> It was Morphy & Barnes v Staunton & Owen 1858. There were two games, one with each color. Morphy won both times. Staunton could read the handwriting on the wall, and stalled playing him.

Benzol: <An Englishman> Morphy actually played against Staunton on two occasions.

Morphy partnered T Barnes against Staunton and J Owen on June 23rd 1858 at London. This game was a Philidors Defence which the Morphy side as Black won in 34 moves.

Three days later on the 26th another game which was finished on the 3rd of July was begun. This one had Staunton and Owen as Black and was a Scandinavian Defence. Morphy and Barnes as White won in 52 moves.
