RandomVisitor: I was about to make a post about the queen sac in this game, but after the above post, it would look out of place.
Dec-24-09  Starf1re: Huh, Rybka analyzes the Queen sac as sound(?) for black with the continuation 12...d8 (-.2, 18 ply). However, after 12...f8 Rybka evaluates the position as advantage white (+.2).

Black's eventual win comes from white's follow-up play, especially 14)e1 (much better was d7) 15)d2 (better was b5) and 18)d3. After 18 black has an advantage of -1.5 (almost a knight).

Once: Typical Steinitz lunacy, matched only by some of the weirdest kibitzing ever on this site.
Dec-24-09  Nightranger: <tpstar> is quite the poet... or story teller... maybe wishful thinker?

Well, it has to start somewhere, even with good thoughts.

Totally agree. It's what cg is all about!

Dec-24-09  zaxonus: Instead of 34 .. Bxe2+, black could have plaid 34 .. Bxh2, and there is no way out of the threat Rg1#.
Dec-24-09  Know Jehovah: Hello everyone. We are the only religion that uses Gods name Jehovah and tells of a resurrection of loved ones in an incoming New World Order of things, through Jehovah's Heavenly Kingdom in the hands of his beloved son Jesus, where sadness is finally gone.

Thanks

pawn to QB4: Couldn't they have got him earlier with 28...Rxg2+ 29. Kf1 Rag8...he can even try distracting them with 30.d8=Q and get mated with two queens to none after 30...Rg1+ and Nc3#. But possibly this would diminish the Christmas cheer of torturing poor old Steinitz in the endgame.
Dec-24-09  jonico: Tpstar...I got a name for that kind of post: Antipoetry...fantastic...Merry Christmas to all

Eisenheim: a fun game - <Stonewaller2> save your ignorant racist comments for a different forum other than chessgames. and <Dillinger> shame on you for encouraging him.
Dec-24-09  zanshin: As <RV> has noted, <tpstar>'s post is a tough act to follow ;-) He should have posted it in the Kibitzer's Corner because it might not be as noticed here. (Thanks for that award Tony ;-))
Dec-24-09  mysql: I like tpstar's poem. So many references to the So page. :o)

I agree, but your comments should be directed against <Know Jehovah> too. This is a chess site, not a forum for discussing, let alone advertising, religion. I am contacting CG.com to try to get this posting removed.

Wow -- that's rather harsh for Dec. 24. Cruel and unusual, even. Where's your Christmas spirit?

(LMAO -- sitting at work, watching snow and freezing rain falling outside my window. Needed to read those posts. Thanks)
