patzer2: Blackburne's 5. Qf3 was recommended by Kasparov and Keene in BCO. However, Blackburne should have played their recommended 6. d3 followup instead of 6. Nh3?!. Lasker has no trouble after this dubious white move.

patzer2: Notice the pretty trap Lasker sets with 14. ..a5! White takes the bait and falls into Lasker's trap with 15 Rb1 axb4 16. axb4, allowing Lasker to win four pawns for the bishop in the sequence after 16. ..Bxb4+!

patzer2: With 31...Qd3+ Lasker finishes off a well played game with a pretty deflection tactic.

keypusher: Thanks for these notes <patzer>. 31...Qd3+ is indeed a beautiful move.

It seems to me that White might as well resign as play 23. Nxe4.

Jun-17-06  ughaibu: If he doesn't capture the knight, won't Ra3 win?
