Dec-21-03  CapablancaRules: This line is weak for Black. Why Alapin did not play 5. dxe5? If 5..dxe5 6.Qd5 is crushing. And 5..Nxe5 is easilly answered with 6.Nxe5 dxe5 7.Qh5. Any suggestions to save our friend Blackburne?
Nov-02-04  likestofork: If 5. dxe5, about the best Black has is 5..Nb6, going down the pawn. I guess black can pretend he's playing a gambit, albeit, the sort of gambit where you have no compensation. Like you say, this line is weak for black. My only suggestion for saving Blackburne is that he take up one of those religions where it's assumed you can be saved. Oh, wait, my tenses are all wrong there....he's kinda dead, isn't he?
