May-10-06  notyetagm: I like how the notorious Dutch Stonewall bad Black Queen's bishop just lurks in the background the whole game, doing nothing much until it lands the death blow 36 ... ♗h5!.
Mar-28-07  Paul123: Great game when you consider Botvinnk was a leading pioneer of the Dutch Stonewall years before...

Peligroso Patzer: At the start of this game, Botvinnik led in the match by 12-9 and needed only a draw to regain the WC title. Quite an accomplishment for Smyslov to win when Botvinnik was playing White, in effect, with draw odds.

(In the 23rd game, Botvinnik was able to draw as Black and thereby regained the world championship.)

Mar-21-09  clickclick: why not qf1 at the end? Am i missing something?

  Domdaniel: 37.Qf1 Qg4 also wins quickly, eg 38.bxc6 Rg1+ 39.Qxg1 Qf3+ mating.

profK: The white treatment of this Dutch is pretty simplistic. Lots of exchanges gave black nothing to fear..Nothing against Smyslov but this was Iron Mike in 2nd gear, but with 3 points up, can we blame him.
