  Resignation Trap: In his red notebook about Bronstein, Botvinnik entered: "Sicilian (!), Rauzer Variation. Liublinsky castled on the short side. 'Br' made use of the very first opportunity to take the initiative (...b4, axb4, Nxb4). Liublinsky craftily consolidated and began repeating moves . 'Br' avoided repetition and obtained a slightly inferior position! (Aha! - it works). But did not lose his head and offered a draw on the 26th move!

This game was 'Br's first in the tournament.
