|May-09-07|| ||An Englishman: Good Evening: I thought the title might a pun on saltpeter.|
|May-09-07|| ||al wazir: I kept expecting white to play Nxh6, followed by Bxf7 and Nf5+. Didn't happen.|
|May-09-07|| ||sfm: Here I thought Bronstein was planning to castle queen side. Then he plays Rd1 instead, and castles to the other side. So no I-attack-your-king-you-attack-my-king this time.
No, the whole rest of the game was suddenly I-attack-you-try-to-defend. How? The little hole created on f5! Easy! (When you are a Bronstein)|
|May-09-07|| ||problemist: Tougher seems to be 32. .. f6 instead of just losing the pawn. After that probably 33. f5+ xf5 34. xf5 with a slightly better ending, but Black could still fight on.|
|May-09-07|| ||Infin1ty: f6 seems like the slightly more resisting continuation, but I think the pawn will still be lost after Nxb7. Black should play Kg7 (Qxb7 would after Qf5+, Kh8, Qe6 result in the recapture of the piece for Nd5 looks the only way to avoid direct mate) and that seems to lead to a pawn down, 4 isolated pawns and not enough pieces to cover them. With Bronstein's technique "resign" would be the only acceptable move :)|
|May-09-07|| ||kevin86: Saltpeter? I wonder how many people KNO3 what that is-lol.|
It is an oxidizing agent used in industry for dying and explosives. Black powder is 75% saltpeter,15 % charcoal powder,and 10% sulfur. The best ratio actually is:74.64 KNO3-13.51% C-11.85 S.
The game is far less interesting than that-but white does have a dynamite attack,however.
|May-09-07|| ||PAWNTOEFOUR: when i reached the end of this game,i was curious as to why black resigned....so i whipped shredder out...and it's first move was c5 and stayed that way for over 200 million nodes......so i went bf6 to defend the e pawn,and black's position just caved in!!...i can't wait till shredder 11 comes out!|
|May-09-07|| ||WarmasterKron: <i can't wait till shredder 11 comes out!>|
Why? It'll be exactly the same as Shredder 10, just with go faster stripes.
|May-09-07|| ||gBizzle: why 32. ... Kg7? i know its probly something super obvious (my brain isnt working today), can somebody tell me?|
|May-09-07|| ||object16: <gBizzle> black should have played f6,
see comment by <Infin1ty>, but then white
responds with 33 Nxb7 Qxb7 34 Qf5+ Kh8
35 Qe5 Qg7 defending the mate or Kd5 defending mate but leads to quicker death 36 Qe8+ Kh7 37 Qxd8 Nd6 38 Qxa5 and black will eventually lose the Knight defending the advancing a pawn supported by the b and c pawns and a bishop.
