Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-15-05   paladin at large: Alapin wins a fine rook and pawn endgame with the more active rook, although he went into that phase a pawn down and remained down for a while.

Why did he play 39. h5 and not R3c7 at once?

Mar-06-06   Tamerlan: <paladin at large>: I think it was a mistake.
Nov-07-08   FHBradley: According to he omniscient Nalimov, the final position is a draw.
Nov-07-08   Chessdreamer: <FHBradley> This is draw Isidor Gunsberg vs. Jacques Mieses, Breslau 1889!
Nov-07-08   FHBradley: <Chessdreamer:> Thanks for that. It really does seem that Alapin-Burn, Frankfurt 1887 is a misattribution. Btw, black missed a draw with 63... Ke5 (instead of 63... Ke7 or Ke6) and white missed a win with 65 Rb1 (instead of 65 Rd8).
